Vinos Fuentes is both a family operated winery, serving assertive fruit forward wines, and an authentic restaurant serving local cuisine. Hector Fuentes, (the founder), planted grapes that are well known in the Valle de Guadalupe, including Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot; since his son Miguel took over, he’s added to their portfolio with additional French Colombard and Muscat. Hector began the endeavor in 1958, focused on raising cattle and fruit, but as soon as California Davis graduate Miguel took over, the passion for wine followed and since 2000 they’ve centered their family business around it.
Vinos Fuentes offers around 12 different wines, though that number is growing as the newly planted varietals come to maturity. Once that happens, Miguel will surely begin experimenting in true Baja viticultural style. Two of the most popular and well received blends are their 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2009 Nebbiolo.
