Vinos Tres Valles (aka VTV) had simply planned on sharing their wines amongst family and friends, though it quickly became apparent from their first harvest that Vitivinícola Tres Valles was producing an outstanding product. Established in 1999, the winery has several rich, herbaceous reds and medium bodied, well balanced whites. Most of the wines are named in the indigenous Kiliwa language (i.e. KOJAA, which means “wine”).
The winery has a treehouse-like tasting room of rustic artistry where owner/winemaker Joaquín Prieto pours lovely reds from the three valleys. This is why the name Tres Valles was given, because the wines are produced with grapes harvested from the three major valleys of the region: San Antonio de las Minas Valley, San Vicente Ferrer and Guadalupe Valley. Prieto’s wines are a true blend of strong grape varietals that have helped inspire the valley as a whole. Tres Valles pays homage to the origins of their state and proudly so by branding the basis of their image on the indigenous groups in Baja California, therein spreading its culture and tradition.

Directions: To get there take Tecate-Ensenada Federal No. 3 highway. Once you reach the heart of San Antonio de las Minas, if you are coming from Ensenada, make a right hand turn at Benito Juarez, the only paved road in town. Go 6 streets further down and turn left at Ignacio Comonfort. Go down one more block and turn right at Lerdo de Tejada. Keep going two more blocks down and Vinos Tres Valles will be at your left-hand side.
